Yamunotri Dham, the principal Dham on the way the yatra, is arranged at Yamunotri-where the consecrated stream the Yamuna starts. It named after Goddess Yamuna, the twin sister of Yama (the God of death). A shower in the sacred waters of the Yamuna stream is said to purge one of every one of their transgressions and shield them from an awkward demise. It is accepted that savvy Asit Muni lived in an isolation nearby and washed in both the Ganga and the Yamuna. In his advanced age, when he couldn't go to Gangotri, a flood of the Ganga began to stream across the steam of the Yamuna. At the Yamunotri Dham, the icon of Goddess Yamuna is available as a dark marble symbol and it is arranged in the setting of the Yamuna waterway which planes down from one side of the sanctuary which makes for an amazing sight.
