Patti Callahan Henry's Southern contemporary books include Losing the Moon, Between the Tides; Where the River Runs; When Light Breaks; Between the Tides; The Art of Keeping Secrets; Driftwood Summer; The Perfect Love Song: A Holiday Story; Coming Up for Air; And Then I Found You; The Stories We Tell; The Idea of Love, The Bookshop at Water’s End, and The Favorite Daughter. 

 

Her historical fiction titles include: BECOMING MRS. LEWIS (10/18) the improbable love story of Joy Davidman and C. S. Lewis, and her Behind the Scenes of BECOMING MRS. LEWIS PODCAST (01/20) Collection. WILD SWAN, a novella and story of Florence Nightingale released (12/20), as an Audible Original performed by Cynthia Erivo.

SURVIVING SAVANNAH—(3/21) a new historical fiction novel based on the true story of the Steamship Pulaski wreck, known as "The Titanic of the South" was released. ONCE UPON A WARDROBE is another tenderly imagined and enchanting story that pulls back the curtain on the early life of C. S. Lewis from Callahan— (10/21) —published by Harper Collins' new imprint debut novel—Harper Muse.

A finalist in the Townsend Prize for Fiction, an Indie Next Pick, an OKRA pick, and a multiple nominee for the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA) Novel of the Year, Patti is published in numerous languages. Her articles and essays have appeared in Southern Living, PINK, Writer’s Digest, Garden and Gun, Portico Magazine, Parade Magazine, Love Magazine (UK), Red Magazine (UK), Atlanta Journal, Birmingham Magazine, and more.

 

Her essays can also be found in anthologies and collections such as Our Prince of Scribes: Writers Remember Pat Conroy; Southern Writers Writing, and State of the Heart.  REUNION BEACH, Stories Inspired by Dorothea Benton Frank, a collaboration and tribute to be released (4/21). Patti joins a group of bestselling authors to present a moving anthology to pay tribute to the legendary NYT bestselling author and her literary legacy.

Patti is a frequent speaker at luncheons, book clubs, and women’s groups.  She also is a contributor for the columns, "As Us Anything About Writing" and "Up Close and Personal with Patti."  

 

Growing up in Philadelphia as the daughter of a Presbyterian minister, Patti learned early the value of storytelling. At the age of twelve, her family moved to South Florida where Patti found the sanctuary of libraries and began her slow but steady journey into understanding the power of story to navigate confusing times in life.

 

Patti attended Auburn University for her undergraduate work and Georgia State University for her graduate degree. Once a Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist, she now writes full-time.

 

A full-time author, mother of three, and grandmother of two, she lives in Mountain Brook, Alabama with her husband, Pat Henry.

THE SECRET BOOK OF FLORA LEA: Her newest novel, The Secret Book of Flora Lea, is set outside Oxford in the hamlet of Binsey and was released May 2, 2023, with Simon & Schuster Atria and is available now.

She’s spent countless hours, and yet not nearly enough hours, wondering and reading and talking about C. S. Lewis, Joy Davidman, and their life together.
