Festival Activities
Author Presentations
Some 50+ writers, poets, scholars and industry professionals read from and discuss their works, literacy, and reading throughout the day in buildings and tents scattered across Old Alabama Town’s historic grounds.
Bookseller
Books by every featured author are available for purchase from the festival bookseller. Vendors and exhibitors sell other books.
Book Signings
Authors sign their books, which visitors may purchase at the festival or bring from home.
Children’s Activities
A host of activities are available in our Children's Activities area.Meeting a “real life” author is a formative experience for children and adolescents. In addition to meeting some of their favorite authors, children enjoy an activity area that features educational games, arts and crafts, and appearances by costumed literary characters such as the Cat in the Hat, Clifford the Big fred Dog, Skippyjon Jones, Froggy, and Corduroy Bear. Adjacent Kiwanis Park also offers a large playground where kids can burn off energy
Exhibitors & Vendors
A number of exhibitors promote their book and literary organizations at the event. Vendors are also on hand to sell books and other items of interest to booklovers of all ages.
A centrally-located "Open Mic" area allows authors to read from their works.

Refreshments
Food vendors offer items for purchase, and some guests bring their own picnic fare and enjoy blanket picnicking in Kiwanis Park.
